Missouri American Water – Advanced Metering Infrastructure Deployment

Missouri American Water (MOAW) recently upgraded their water meter reading system in St. Louis County by deploying Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology. As part of these AMI upgrades, MOAW installed 400+ fixed base communication network sites, along with meter endpoint updates for the County’s nearly 350,000 customers.

To assist MOAW, CDI provided GIS-centric workflow management for the project team to track AMI system deployment, performance, and maintenance. These services included custom database development and hosting, GIS mapping and portals, work order management systems, as well as data collection field work to help MOAW deploy the AMI system. CDI also completed stakeholder correspondence, permitting, site (GPS) surveys, utility coordination, and field crew oversight for the AMI network sites and equipment. Additionally, CDI installed nearly 50,000 customer AMI endpoint devices. Project deliverables included GIS databases, permitting packets, custom dashboards and reports, and structural drawings/calculations.
