In one of St. Louis' most vibrant and historic neighborhoods, the former Welsh Baby Carriage Factory has been transformed into high-end loft apartments. Originally constructed in 1899, the brick highrise factory housed shoe manufacturer Hamilton-Brown Shoe Factory and later Welsh Baby Carriage Factory until its closing. Today, the building known widely as the "sunshine factory" because of its number of windows, is home to residents from all walks of life. The main five-story, 132-unit building features one- and two-bedroom loft-style apartments with 14- to 16-foot ceilings, exposed brick and exposed wood beams. Plans also include an outdoor swimming pool.
CDI provided site design services including new parking lot, grading, utility plans, storm and sanitary sewers, and parking gates. Services also included plan submittals to MSD, City of St. Louis Street Department, City of St. Louis Water Division and Laclede Gas.
