With basement back-ups affecting a 67-home area, the City of St. Louis turned to CDI for help. The culprits were excessive storm water, damaged and broken pipes, and overcharged mains. Contributing to the problems were residential downspouts and driveway drains connected to the sanitary systems.

CDI recommended replacing 775 feet of deteriorated 8" sanitary sewer pipe, installing 2,100 feet of 12" storm sewers, and redesigning drains to connect to new storm sewers. CDI used HYDRA software to prepare hydraulic models for both sanitary and storm systems, incorporating flow-metering data and mapping of watershed areas.
